We were seated upstairs; though it was almost uncomfortably quiet, the ascent did offer Jenni the opportunity to coo over the “wall knick-knacks.”  The meal started off with excellent salsa (especially the verde): the freshness and quality of the salsa was matched in the margaritas, and continued in the stuffed poblano pepper appetizer.  (Jenni noted, regarding the decor, that if she had “too many more of these margaritas” she might “start swingin’ at these pinatas.”)  The main dishes – shrimp with smoky chipotle for her, melt-in-your-mouth shredded lamb for him – was finger licking good (and in Jenni’s case, quite literally).

Editor’s note:  Jenni has returned to Zarela three more times to enjoy the shrimp! (And margaritas!)
